Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer part-time enrollment?
We operate as a four-day-per-week program with one Saturday field trip or community service day per month.
Families may choose how many days their child attends each week. However, tuition remains the same regardless of attendance frequency.
Because we use a structured, integrated curriculum, each school day builds on the previous one. Literature discussions, math lessons, nature study, and hands-on projects unfold throughout the week. Consistent attendance allows children to fully benefit from the continuity of learning and the rhythm of our small community.
As a small, start-up microschool, our tuition is structured to cover teacher salaries and essential operating costs for the full program. For this reason, we are not able to prorate or discount tuition based on attendance at this time. As we grow, this is something we may revisit.
Is this considered homeschooling?
Yes. Families enrolled at Red River Microschool are legally classified as homeschooling in the state of Kentucky.
Parents submit a simple letter of intent to the local superintendent. Students then meet Kentucky’s required instructional hours and days through attendance at the microschool program.
In other words, parents maintain homeschool status, but the instructional requirements are fulfilled through participation at Red River Microschool.
What if my child is too young to enroll right now?
We offer a waitlist for younger students. If your child is not yet age-eligible, you’re welcome to join the waitlist form on our enrollment page to stay informed about future openings.
